The Swinburne-FACET Climate 4.0 Hub was announced on 8 October 2025 at the FACET Symposium in Grenoble, France. The Hub is operated by Swinburne University of Technology and based at its Hawthorn campus in Melbourne.
The Symposium brought together 155 participants, including a 37-member Australian delegation of researchers, experts and industry representatives. It ran from 7 to 10 October and opened at Grenoble’s Sainte-Cecile Convent.
The Hub was one of six new Franco-Australian projects announced at the Symposium. FACET had set a co-investment goal of at least 50 per cent from project partners for 2025, and exceeded it, securing nearly AUD 3 million from academic and industrial stakeholders.
The announcement coincided with the largest Australian energy delegation to France, held as part of the FACET France Energy Transition and Innovation Tour with the French Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, with events across Paris, Lyon and Grenoble.
The Swinburne-FACET Climate 4.0 Hub will bridge the gap between startups and industry for climate related innovation and technology. The hub will be an engine of technology innovation, commercialisation and collaboration across clean energy, decarbonisation, critical minerals, and climate resilience.
